Inside Line Promotions – HOHENWALD, Tenn. (March 18, 2014) – Derek Hagar is undefeated through the first two weeks for the second straight season.

Hagar made a late-race pass to score his second consecutive USCS Outlaw Thunder National Series victory last Saturday at Tennessee National Raceway.

Next up, Hagar and his undefeated record will compete this Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour – the premier 360ci sprint car series in the country.

“It feels really good,” he said. “We’re going to test our luck this weekend running with the ASCS guys. Hopefully we can go down there and show those guys what we’ve got and pick up our first ASCS National Tour win.”

Last Saturday started with Hagar advancing from sixth to fourth place in the dash.

“We had a good car starting in hot laps,” he said. “The track was pretty slick and right on the bottom.”

Hagar then led all eight laps to claim his heat race, which gave him enough points to advance to the feature redraw. He lined up on the outside of the second row for the 30-lap feature.

“I got into third and rode there for a little bit,” he said. “We got into traffic and I saw Terry (Gray) spinning at the bottom of the race track.”

Hagar advanced to the runner-up position after the leader spun following contact with another driver during the first half of the race.

“I rode a close second behind Dalton Davis for a while,” he said. “We had a long yellow. I mean it was like 10 laps and my right rear tire started going flat. After we took the green I went into (turn) one and the car was real, real tight.”

Hagar maintained second place until a red flag stopped the field with approximately 10 laps remaining.

“We worked on the car a bit,” he said. “We aired up the tire and added a little bit of fuel. We had a second-place car. There was no way we had a winning car.”

A couple of laps after the restart, the leader slid up the track in turn three and Hagar was able to make a pass for the top position.

“He went down in turn three and hit the mud and slipped up,” he said. “That was my chance to win the race. I got underneath him in turn four.”

Hagar then powered to his second straight victory.
