Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (June 10, 2014) – Derek Hagar isn’t upset after last weekend rained out.
“We just pulled our motor that we’ve been running and I’m glad we did because we had a couple of pistons starting to crack,” he said. “Those pistons had 57 nights on them. We got lucky on it.”
Hagar will have the primary engine rebuilt during the next couple of weeks.
“That’s our good DynoTech one we’ve been winning with,” he said. “It’ll probably be a couple of weeks before we have a spare motor again.”
After earning nine wins in 13 races this season, Hagar is slated to drive for Jay Hancock this Friday at Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Ga., with the USCS Series.
“I drove for him the year before last and we won a feature at Phenix City,” Hagar said. “I’ve been in his car four times and I’ve won twice.”
Hagar piloted his own car to a second-place finish at Lavonia Speedway last season.
Following Friday’s race, Hagar plans to return to Arkansas for the Hooker Hood Classic at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, where he already has won twice in two races this season.
“Our plan is to run the Hooker Hood Classic Saturday night, but if weather doesn’t allow us to our backup plan is Phenix City with Jay,” he said.
Hagar has recorded a victory at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Ala., each of the past two years. He also garnered his first career sprint car win at the track during Father’s Day Weekend in 2007.
