Hagar Overcomes Early Incident to Record 30th Top 10 of the Season

Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 6, 2016) – Derek Hagar rebounded from an early incident on Saturday at I-30 Speedway, where he rallied from the back to post his 30th top 10 of the season.
Hagar kicked off the night by maneuvering from eighth to fourth place during a heat race.
“It started out by drawing the worst pill you could and starting at the back in a heat race,” he said. “The track was fast and around the top. Once we got strung out it was follow each other around the top.”
That lined Hagar up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.
“The car was real tight early,” he said. “I was waiting on the track to go away. I passed a car and they spun me out and I had to go to the back about Lap 13.”
Hagar was competing for a top five when another car turned him around to bring out a caution near the midpoint of the feature. He restarted at the back of the pack.
“We kept having cautions,” he said. “They have a rule with five cautions you go green white checkered. I think on Lap 18 I was eighth and they said green white checkered over the radio under a caution. The car really started coming in good and I could run a line nobody else was running. We got two more on the restart before the race ended early. I would have liked to see it go the full 25 laps to see where we could have finished.”
Hagar ended with a sixth-place result.
“It was the first time we went to I-30 Speedway all year,” he said. “It was a good weekend. The car was fast. I think that will carry on when we return there.”
Hagar is up in the air about his race plan for this weekend.
