Hagar Excited for Hooker Hood Classic and Greg Hodnett Memorial

Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (June 13, 2019) – Derek Hagar will be racing at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., both Friday and Saturday during the Hooker Hood Classic and Greg Hodnett Memorial.

“We’re really looking forward to this weekend,” he said. “There’s a lot of history and meaning in both of these races and I’m thankful we’re able to be involved in it.”

Hagar has previously won the Hooker Hood Classic in 2015 and 2016, and he looks to get back to Victory Lane this weekend.

“We’ve had success at this race before so I know that we can do it again.” he said. “Hopefully we’ll be able to pull off a victory or two. It’s really great to see the track honoring two great race car drivers and I’m sure it’ll provide some good racing.”

Last weekend’s action rained out for Hagar so the remainder of the USCS Speedweek was put on hold until next Thursday.

“Hopefully the rain will stay away next weekend,” he said. “We’d definitely like to be able to finish Speedweek and see if we can claim the points championship.”

Hagar also recently decided that he will be competing in the 410 version of the Knoxville Nationals for the first time this year. The event is the second weekend in August at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

“I’ve only ever raced in the 360 Nationals,” he said. “I think that the 410 Nationals will bring some fun. We’ve got more motor in those cars, which can sometimes be easier to deal with and fix certain situations than a 360. It’s going to be fun.”
