Hagar Claims Podium Finish During Greg Hodnett Memorial

Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (June 19, 2019) – Derek Hagar captured a pair of top-five finishes last weekend during a doubleheader at Riverside International Speedway.
“We had the rescheduled Hooker Hood Classic on Friday night,” he said. “We started fifth in our heat race and finished sixth. That lined us up to start 14th in the feature.”
Hagar was able to advance nine spots to finish fifth, which marked his eighth top five of the season.
He took another step forward on Saturday night during the Greg Hodnett Memorial.
“We started fourth in our heat race and got the win,” he said. “We started on the outside front row of the feature and ran second most of the race. On Lap 23 we ran out of fuel and ended up finishing third.”
After many laps under yellow, Hagar, along with the second-place finisher, ran out of fuel in the closing laps. They were neck and neck coming to the finish line.
“We had a good weekend overall,” Hagar said. “Now we’re ready to finish out the rest of the USCS Speedweek.”
The remaining USCS Speedweek races are Thursday at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala.; Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss.; and Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss. He is the current Speedweek points leader.
“We’ve won at all of these tracks before so I’m expecting some good results,” he said. “We’re looking forward to this weekend and we’ll hopefully add some wins to our total.”
