Hagar Opening Season This Saturday at Riverside International Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (May 9, 2023) – Derek Hagar is kicking off the 2023 season this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway, marking the latest he has started a racing season in his career.
“I had to make sure business life was going right before we focused on racing,” he said. “I have more mouths to feed than mine so I have to make sure my employees are taken care of. We’re excited to get things kicked off this weekend.”
Hagar is hopeful to start the season at the dirt oval in West Memphis, Ark., with a triumph. He last won a season opener on March 1, 2014, when he reached the Winner’s Circle at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss.
“It’d mean a lot to win our first race of the year and it’d help build momentum for the team to get our racing season started,” he said. “I’m pretty excited to see what we can do with this new engine package. We didn’t even have time to put it on the dyno. We’ll go out there blind. With the knowledge of Ricky (Stenhouse) and Kenny (Conrad) I’m confident it’ll be strong.”
Hagar is coming off a stellar season as he powered to 13 feature triumphs, a regional series championship and a track title in 2022. This year’s racing schedule will be determined week to week.
“We’ll just race when we can,” he said. “Business is my main priority. We’ll race in between that. I see us racing quite a bit, but it’s hard to say weekend to weekend where we’ll be until the last minute.”
